How about one more city?

I've been up late reading all my travel books and magazines. (You know, research!) Now I want go to Penang, Malaysia - supposedly a food lover's paradise with tons and tons of street hawkers (vendors).

This website even has their top ten things to eat!

http://www.tourismpenang.gov.my/top_10_picks_eat.html

Kavita says she will partake in street food which is big for her! She won't eat samples at the grocery store (all those hands!). However, she did mention she'll be on a heavy dose of antibiotics. She's taking the proactive approach. I will pretty much eat anything that smells ok. I'm not too worried about the sanitation codes. The grill will kill any bacteria, right?!

So where can I put Penang into the schedule....

My Blog's Birth!

If you know me at all, you know I like to REALLY plan my vacations. I mean REALLY. Since I want to have a blog for my trip in Asia, I thought I'd play around with it now....2 months in advance. Just heard yesterday that my cousin won't be able to join us, so now the trip is Kavita, Boston, and I. We'll be gone 3 1/2 weeks and traveling to 4 countries with as few night trains as possible! I would add more if I could, but I've tend to overdo vacations with too many places. I thought I'd take it easy this time.

Here's the tentative itinerary:

7/6/09: Leave DFW for Bangkok, Thailand

7/11/09:Chiang Mai, Thailand

7/14/09:Phuket, Thailand - scuba!

7/17/09: Hanoi, Vietnam

7/20/09:Siem Reap, Cambodia

7/23/09: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

7/25/09:Bohol, Phillippines - scuba!

7/28/09:Manila, Phillippines

7/30/09:Back to DFW

I still have to get certified to scuba next month, and hopefully it won't be like the ropes course in 10th grade where I discovered a fear of heights. Well, at least when I'm a bit unsteady on a log many feet in the air. All right - enough blogging for tonight. I need to convince Boston that having a penthouse in Manila is not a necessity for him right now. His school pays for his rent up to a certain point, and this would cost him an extra $200/mo. That is another plane ticket! To Laos or Vietnam! And I have 'An Amazing Race' episode to watch. This is reason I want to go to Kuala Lampur and see the Batu caves (see pic) where thousands of people walk up these stairs barefoot unbothered by the large amount of monkey poo -- grossing Kavita out one step at a time.
